About Dr. Morteza M. Farr, DO
Dr. Farr is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and fellowship trained in spine surgery. Dr. Farr has been performing general orthopaedic and complex spine surgery in San Jose and Manteca California since 2001.
Dr. Farr is involved in the development of new technology for minimally invasive spine surgery (MIS). He holds several patents including new technology for MIS placement of interbody cages for lumbar fusion, MIS technique for rod introduction for lumbar fusion, a new interspinous spacer that allows a more stable construct. Dr. Farr completed his undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Cal State San Jose. He then went on to and graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, currently known as AT STILL University of Health Sciences. He then completed an orthopaedic surgery residency through the Michigan State University program. Dr. Farr received additional orthopaedic surgery training through the William Beaumont Hospital in Detroit, the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, Shrine’s Children Hospital in Pennsylvania, and the University Medical Center in Las Vegas. Furthering his training he completed a spine surgery fellowship at Louisville KY, through a Tulane University Affiliated Program. He completed most of his training at Jewish Hospital, Norton Hospital, and Kosair Children Hospital.
Dr. Farr has served as a clinical assistant professor at Michigan State University and has also served as a clinical faculty member at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Farr completed 8 years of military reserve duty with the US Navy Reserve. Dr. Farr served a one year tour of duty at the US military hospital in Kuwait, where he provided orthopaedic surgery services for injured soldiers.
