Help for spondylolisthesis

Many people are always searching for help for Spondylolisthesis. If your family has a history of back problems, you are an athlete, or have a history of hyperextension of your spine: listen up! You are at risk for spondylolisthesis. Spondylolisthesis is a condition of the spine where one of the vertebrae slips forward or backward concerning the next vertebrae. This condition can lead to a deformity of the spine as well as a narrowing of the spinal canal or compression of the exiting nerve roots. Spondylolisthesis is most common in the low back but can occur in the mid to upper back.
Here at LA Health Solutions, we know a thing or two about back pain, and we have a team that knows all the issues that can occur at the first sign of trouble. If you have any back pain whatsoever, here are the five major types of lumbar spondylolisthesis.
Dysplastic Spondylolisthesis
This condition is caused by a defect in the formation of part of the vertebra called the facet that allows it to slip forward. This is a condition that a patient is born with.
Isthmic Spondylolisthesis
Within this condition, there is a defect in a portion of the vertebra called the pars interarticularis. This can come about through repetitive trauma and is more common in athletes exposed to hyperextension motions, including gymnasts and football players.
Degenerative Spondylolisthesis
This condition is due to arthritic changes in the joints of the vertebrae due to cartilage degeneration and is acquired later in life. This condition is more common in older patients.
Traumatic Spondylolisthesis
Direct trauma or injury to the vertebra brings about this condition. This can be caused by a fracture of the pedicle, lamina, or facet joints that allows the front portion of the vertebrae to slip forward.
Pathologic Spondylolisthesis
A defect in the bone solely causes this. Tumors are one of the leading causes of pathologic spondylolisthesis.
