Is there a best time to take Vitamins?
Morning, noon, or night…is there a best time to take vitamins? If you have every wandered down the vitamin aisle? There are certainly a lot of vitamins to choose from, and they all have different benefits. A vitamin is an organic compound that is an essential nutrient that the body can get from food. There are 13 essential vitamins that include, A, B, C, D, E, K with 8 vitamins in the B Complex. A balanced and varied diet that contains plenty of proteins, fruits and vegetables should be the primary source of vitamins. Many people take multivitamins and other supplements, but there is a balance that needs to be considered. Before you begin adding vitamins to your diet, it is important to consult with your doctor to find out the best ones for you to take. How much Vitamin D do you need? Do you need more iron? What about minerals?
Best Time: Morning or Night
Multivitamins and individual water-soluble vitamins like the B group can be taken any time, with or without food. Therefore, these can be taken any time of the day – morning, noon or night. Fat-soluble vitamins like A and E should be taken with food to help the body absorb the vitamin and to also avoid queasiness. Many people prefer to take these types of vitamins in the evening with dinner. If you are taking both multivitamins and individual supplements, it may be best to space them apart a few hours to help the body absorb them better. Remember, it is important to consult with you doctor as s/he can also help you to determine the best times to take the supplements and with or without food.
